Body
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2621, which was signed into law by the County Executive on February 3, 1997, and takes effect as of May 4, 1997, amended Chapter 54, Jackson County Code, 1984, the County's building code, to adopt the most recent editions of the Uniform Building Code and related codes as the County's standards; and,
WHEREAS, since the adoption of Ordinance 2621, it has come to the attention of the Legislature that questions exist among representatives of the construction industry and organized labor as to the appropriate uniform codes which should be adopted by the Legislature as the County's standards for the construction of buildings in the unincorporated areas of the County; and,
WHEREAS, in view of these questions, the Legislature believes it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that Ordinance 2621, dated January 6, 1997, be repealed, so as to allow the Legislature and County Administration to fully explore the questions that have been raised prior to amending the County's building code; and,
WHEREAS, the effect of the adoption of this ordinance will be to reinstate the County's building code as it existed prior to the adoption of Ordinance 2621; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri , as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Ordinance 2621, dated January 6, 1997, is hereby repealed...Attorney
Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
