Body
WHEREAS, Azia Alexandria, a Lee's Summit High School junior and daughter of Pat Cain, has been honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award from the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards on behalf of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation for her exemplary volunteer service; and,

WHEREAS, the Spirit of Community program is sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals and recognizes young leaders across America for their outstanding community service activities; and,

WHEREAS, Azia, a Lee's Summit High School representative in the Spirit of Community program, was recognized for the nearly 800 hours of tutoring and reading to first and second grade students in the inner city area as well as donating her time to assist at a variety of school and community activities such as the Don Bosco Center, ReStart, Harvesters, Boys & Girls Club, Sunshine Center, and the Kansas City Rescue Mission; and,

WHEREAS, Azia also excels scholastically and has received recognition for Principal's honor roll, debate, the Kansas City Black Family Technology Awareness Association Essay contest - 2nd place, and a National Speech and Drama award; and,

WHEREAS, she is vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, a theater club member, varsity debate and forensics team captain, an urban youth theater member, a member of the basketball and track team at Lee's Summit High school, a member of Tiger Friends (a drug and alcohol prevention among peers group), and a member of the Leaders of Tomorrow program; ...
