A RESOLUTION extending sincere thanks and appreciation to the Jackson County Wheelman for their ongoing commitment to the expansion of the Little Blue Trace Bicycle Trail.

Body
WHEREAS, in 1993 the Jackson County Wheelmen formally incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Missouri, and soon thereafter became affiliated with the League of American Wheelmen, the oldest national bicycling organization in the country; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the organization is to promote bicycling as a safe, efficient, healthy, and non-polluting form of transportation; and,
WHEREAS, for almost a decade, the Jackson County Wheelmen have been effective partners with the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department to improve and develop the Little Blue Trace Bicycle Trail by organizing the Annual Tour de Blue Benefit Ride, donating thousands of dollars of proceeds from fundraisers, and by being a grass roots constituency for grant initiatives for the Parks and Recreation Department from outside funding sources; and,
WHEREAS, this bicycling club is a noted leader in the bicycling community in Jackson County and is proactive in its stated purpose, enabling positive results that benefit the community at large; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature extends sincere praise and thanks to the Jackson County Wheelmen for their long term, ongoing commitment to the expansion of the Little Blue Trace Trail, and the enhancement of the quality of life for the residents of Jackson County as they enjoy this beautiful amenity of the parks system.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
