A RESOLUTION congratulating the Oak Grove Panthers on their individual and team wrestling accomplishments.

RESOLUTION #11640, March 3, 1997

INTRODUCED BY Dixie M. Flynn, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, under the outstanding leadership of Coach Bob Glasgow, the Panthers wrestling team won the 1997 Missouri State Class 1A-2A Wrestling Championship; and,

WHEREAS, accomplishments of the team include winning the Lee's Summit North Tournament, North Kansas City Tournament, and District 6 championship, the Panthers' eighth consecutive district title; and,

WHEREAS, Oak Grove has won state wrestling championships in 1984, 1987, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995, making it the third team in Missouri wrestling annals to achieve four consecutive state titles; and,

WHEREAS, the Panthers have also won 39 individual state championships in the last 14 years, setting a record of more individual state titles than any school in Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, two of the five four-time state champions in Missouri wrestling history are Matt Infranca and Brett Fry from Oak Grove; and,

WHEREAS, nine of Oak Grove's wrestlers have received Division I scholarships; and,

WHEREAS, this year's team qualified ten wrestlers for the state tournament, with three individual state champions, Robby Beebe, Travis Crall, and Elliott Fuimaono, a two-time state champion; and,

WHEREAS, those wrestlers qualifying for the state tournament were:
Bobbe Lowe 31 wins, 7 losses; 2nd place state finish
Robby Beebe 39 wins, 5 losses; state champion
Travis Leroux 27 wins, 16 losses; 6th place state finish
Aaron Tolen 39 wins, 8 losses; 3rd place finish
Travis Crall 26 wins, 11 losses; state champion
Sturg Cumberford 43 wins, 1 loss; 2nd place state finish
Jeff Wall 32 wins, 6 losses; 5th place state finish
Elliott Fuimaono 35 wins, 1 loss; state champion
and;
WHEREAS, this year's team features...
