Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 3628, dated April 25, 2005, the Legislature did authorize the execution of Memoranda of Understanding with the Cities of Independence and Lee's Summit, MO, relating to those Cities participation in the Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence Program, partially funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ); and,

WHEREAS, the DOJ has now awarded A grant in the amount of $2,427.00 to the City of Blue Springs, MO, to partially fund its participation in this program; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Blue Springs now desires to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the County to provide partial funding for a Jackson County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney position which will be assigned to domestic violence cases and to provide law enforcement training for case preparation as a part of this program; and,
WHEREAS, under the proposed MOU, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City of Blue Springs will provide 10% of the salary and benefits for this position commencing September 1, 2005; and,

WHEREAS, the grant period is for a two-year period and the first year of funding ends on August 31, 2006; and,

WHEREAS, matching funds from the County are required in the amount of $11,230.00; and,
