WHEREAS, Robert H. Markey is retiring after twenty-eight years working as the first and only general counsel to the Industrial Development Authority of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Bob incorporated the Industrial Development Authority of Jackson County in August 1980; and,
WHEREAS, Bob has also been instrumental in organizing and representing the Blue Springs and Lee's Summit Industrial Development Authorities; and,
WHEREAS, Bob was born on November 19, 1916, in Greeley, KS, and moved to Independence, MO, in 1920, when his father bought an interest in a bank; and,
WHEREAS, Bob attended St. Benedict's College and then attended law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he received his law degree while serving as a lieutenant in the South Pacific, with his mother accepting the degree on his behalf; and,
WHEREAS, Bob's wife, Eve, his four children, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter all share in celebrating his retirement; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Robert H. Markey for his outstanding dedication and service to the Industrial Development Authority of Jackson County through the years and extends best wishes for his future endeavors upon his retirement.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
