RESOLUTION #12249, June 15, 1998

INTRODUCED BY Carl W. Bussey, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 2807, dated June 1, 1998, the Legislature did appropriate $25,000.00 in County anti-drug sales tax funds to provide the local match to a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety, for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City's Delinquency and Youth Violence Prevention Program; and,

WHEREAS, since the time of the Club's application for these County funds, the Club has lost $30,000.00 in funding for the salary of a position instrumental to this program; and,

WHEREAS, the Club has requested that the County make up this funding shortfall, out of anti-drug sales tax grant match funds; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's office has advised that it is too early in the budget year to tell if the requested funds will be available; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature strongly supports the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City and, particularly, its Delinquency and Youth Violence Prevention Program; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature urges the Prosecuting Attorney to allocate $30,000.00 in anti-drug sales tax grant match funds to the Boys and Girls' Club of Greater Kansas City's Delinquency and Youth Violence Prevention Program, as soon as she can determine that such funds are available.
