A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trust, with a local match from the County not to exceed $150,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trust is a strong supporter of the Schools as Community Centers program which will be operated as a summer program in eight schools under the administration of Youthnet; and,
WHEREAS, the focus of the program is drug prevention and the program will consist of themes such as physical health, intellectual capability, employment, and civic and social commitment; and,
WHEREAS, the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trust has received grants from NationsBank, UtiliCorp United, and United Way, in the aggregate amount of $325,000; and,
WHEREAS, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trust has requested matching funds in the amount of $150,000.00 to continue its program; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by reference, with Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trust for its summer program; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
