WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office's Motorcycle Unit and Sheriff's Office's Response Team (SORT) recently served as escort and security for many celebrities, dignitaries, and fans during the All-Star Game festivities July 6 - 10, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office dedicated many man-hours to ensuring all aspects of their service was completed efficiently, presenting a positive image of Jackson County to the many visitors to our county during the All-Star Game; and,
WHEREAS, deputies assigned to the Motorcycle Unit and SORT are required to complete intensive and specialized training courses at which safety and defensive tactics are stressed; and,
WHEREAS, the Motorcycle Unit also provided escorts for the "Run for the Wall" cyclists across Missouri on May 21, 2012, as the group reached the midway point of its annual cross-country trip to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C.; and,
WHEREAS, the "Run for the Wall" group works to promote healing among veterans and their families and to honor the memory of those killed in combat; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the Jackson County Sheriff's Office's Motorcycle Unit and Response Team for its service to the citizens of Jackson County and the community.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
