Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 2265, dated January 10, 1994, the Legislature did authorize the adoption of the Jackson County Master Plan, "Strategy for the Future;" and,
WHEREAS, the County Plan Commission has formulated and prepared an update to the Jackson County Master Plan, "Building a Vision Together: Jackson County Development Plan;" and,
WHEREAS, this update consolidates and replaces certain elements of the plan in the areas of land use and development, transportation, public services, water and waste management, natural resources, and the plan implementation; and,
WHEREAS, the Master Plan is based on studies of physical, social, ecological, economic, and governmental conditions and trends; and,
WHEREAS, the Master Plan is designed to assure the coordinated development of the County so as to conserve natural resources, insure efficient expenditure of public funds, and promote the general welfare and prosperity of its people; and,
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission has solicited input from the cities within the County, other public service providers, and the general public; and,
WHEREAS, the Plan commission held a public hearing to accept public testimony on the Master Plan on October 18, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Plan Commission voted 9 to 0 to recommend APPROVAL of the updated Master Plan at its public hearing on October 18, 2012; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County doer hereby adopt the revised Jackson County Master Plan "Building a Vision Together: Jackson County Development Plan;" and,
