Body
WHEREAS, Gregory Morris has filed the case of Morris v. Jackson County and the City of Grandview, No. CV97-25528 a civil action for monetary damages for personal injuries incurred while riding his bicycle on property leased by Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, after negotiations and investigation, the County Counselor recommends that the claims of Mr. Morris against the County be settled for a total payment of $20,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the claim be settled as recommended by the County Counselor; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Counselor be, and hereby is, authorized to settle the claim of Gregory Morris in the case of Morris v. Jackson County and the City of Grandview, No. CV97-25528, for a total payment not to exceed $20,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to issue his check in settlement of these charges, in an amount not to exceed $20,000.00, pursuant to the specific directions of the County Counselor.
