Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 11983, dated December 8, 1997, the County and the Independence Square Redevelopment Group (ISRG) entered into written lease agreement whereby the County leased certain space in the Bundschu Building located at 103 North Main, Independence from ISRG (“Lease”); and,

WHEREAS, the term of this Lease commenced on November 1, 1996, and will end on October 31, 2001; and,

WHEREAS, the parties have negotiated a new lease Agreement, which will extend through October 31, 2006, at a rental rate which has increased from $6.00 per square foot to $7.00 per square foot; and,

WHEREAS, under the proposed new lease, the county will have the right to vacate the premises at any time with 90 days notice to the ISRG; and,

WHEREAS, the execution of this new lease agreement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Lease Agreement with the Independence Square Redevelopment Group; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment, required by the Lease Agreement to the extent that sufficient appropriations are included in the then current Jackson County budget.
