Body
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office has requested the creation of a new non-merit position entitled Special Projects Coordinator to focus on training and recruitment; and,
WHEREAS, funding for this position was included in the annual budget; and,
WHEREAS, at its meeting of June 19, 2013, the Merit System Commission recommends this position be exempted from the provisions of the Merit System as provided in Article IX, Section 2 of the 2010 Jackson County Charter; and,
WHEREAS, the creation of this new non-merit staff position in the Sheriff's Office is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Schedule VI to Chapter 2, Jackson County, 1984, is hereby repealed, and one new schedule enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as Schedule VI, to read as follows:

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the County Executive.
