Body
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit High School senior Tess Herder won the Missouri Class 2 State Singles Tennis Championship at the state tournament, October 26, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, Tess dominated her finals match-up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over her opponent at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, MO; and,
WHEREAS, Tess is ranked regionally as a top 10 and nationally as a top 100 girls tennis player; and,
WHEREAS, away from school, Tess trains with the Kansas City United Tennis Academy, but made the decision to play on the Lee's Summit High School team for her senior year; and,
WHEREAS, Tess is an aggressive and competitive tennis player, and went into the final match determined for a strong finish; and,
WHEREAS, Tess plans to attend Drake University after graduation; and,
WHEREAS, Tess's parents, Shari and Randy Herder, are justifiably proud of their daughter; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates the Tess Herder of Lee's Summit High School for winning the Class 2 Singles Tennis State Championship.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
