Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, renewed their sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the COMBAT Commission to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which engages in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug users; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 13219, dated May 15, 2000, the Legislature authorized agreements with certain organizations which engage in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities for the purpose of treating users of illegal drugs at an aggregate total cost to the County not to exceed $2,718,928.00; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 13370, dated September 25, 2000, the Jackson County Legislature did authorize Addenda to Agreements, extending the contracts for an additional twelve months, at an aggregate total cost to the County not to exceed $2,628,752.01; and,
