INTRODUCED BY Henry C. Rizzo, Dan Tarwater, James D. Tindall, Theresa Garza Ruiz, Fred Arbanas, Scott Burnett, Dennis Waits, Greg Grounds and Bob Spence, County Legislators

Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 12795, dated June 28, 1999, the County did recognize West Central Missouri Regional Lodge 50 of the Fraternal Order of Police as the bargaining representative for certain employees within the Sheriff's Department; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 15097, dated July 12, 2004, the Legislature did authorize execution of a successor Memorandum of Understanding to establish wage rates, hours of work, working conditions, and procedures for settlement of differences for members of this bargaining unit; and,

WHEREAS, that MOU expired on December 31, 2006, but has renewed automatically for one (1) year periods; and,

WHEREAS, County and Lodge negotiating teams have been meeting and conferring for the purpose of negotiating a successor MOU; and,

WHEREAS, the County and the Lodge teams have concluded their negotiations and recommend approval of the successor MOU, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and,

WHEREAS, the Lodge's bargaining unit have ratified this MOU and its approval is in the best interest of the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be, and is hereby, authorized to execute the attached Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the County.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
