INTRODUCED BY Megan L. Marshall, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, Jackson County entered into an agreement with the federal government of the United States of America in 1987 to lease the property known as Longview Lake; and,

WHEREAS, while Jackson County does not own the property at Longview Lake, it is jointly managed by Parks + Rec and the US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) through a lease agreement; and,

WHEREAS, the property contains two structures, one known as the Garage/Apartment and Powerhouse Building, and the other known as the Greenhouse Manager's House; and,

WHEREAS, the structures were constructed in the early 1900s and are in a state of advanced deterioration; and,

WHEREAS, the two structures would require significant and costly repairs for any new use; and,

WHEREAS, a new Programmatic Agreement is required between the parties and the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office to evaluate the possible repurposing of the structures for a complementary third-party use or the authorization of their demolition if no suitable and feasible options for reuse are found; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is authorized to execute the Programmatic Agreement with the USACE and Missouri State Historic Preservation Office, at no cost to the County.
