Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County on November 7, 1989, approved the imposition of a one-quarter cent sales tax for the purpose of preventing drug and drug-related offenses; and,

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Police Department, according to the County's annual budget, is to receive an annual appropriation of $1.6 million from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax for its fight against illegal drug use in our community; and,

WHEREAS, officials from the City, the Kansas City Police Department, and the County have met to discuss the terms of this Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Prosecuting Attorney is hereby authorized to execute the attached Agreement between the County, the City, and the Board of Police Commissioners relative to the Police Department's funding from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
