Body
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Nelson "Fuzzy" Thompson has provided fourteen (14) years of service to the Mason Memorial United Methodist Church; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Thompson is the proud husband of Cheryl C. (Love) Thompson, to whom he has been married to for thirty-nine (39) years; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Thompson attended Central High School, received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Lincoln University, his Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology, and his Doctor of Ministry from St. Paul School of Theology; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Thompson took part in international events such as his 1980 trip to Tehran, Iran as one of only three (3) U.S. ministers to conduct Easter services during the Iran Hostage Crisis, and his trip to South Africa in 1994 as one of only seventeen (17) U.S. ministers to serve as official observers for the first all-race elections; and,

WHEREAS, in Kansas City, Reverend Thompson was a teacher of general science, biology, and physical education at Central High School from 1968-1971 and a community worker for the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1968-1972; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Thompson was involved in a number of community groups including the following: Chairman of the Northwest Political Faction (1972-1973), President of the Urban Ministries Council of Kansas City (1972-1980), President of the Black Clergy Committee (1972-1978), President of the Northeast Community Alliance (1974-1978), President of the...
