WHEREAS, Bishop Mai Barclay Roberts of Liberia began attending the Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ in 1971, eventually progressing along her spiritual journey to become the first female bishop in the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, which was founded in Kansas City, and with which the Faith Healing Temple is affiliated; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts is widely recognized as a national spiritual leader throughout Liberia, preaching her message of God's love, forgiveness, and reconciliation to the nation in twice-weekly radio broadcasts; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts lives her life embracing the philosophy of caring and sharing, living out her favorite quote, "If I can help somebody then my living shall not be in vain"; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts was directed by the Lord to move to the Faith Healing Temple compound during the 1990 Liberian war, making the house of worship a refuge for hundreds of Liberians irrespective of tribal or ethnic background; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts was recognized by the President of Liberia for her dedicated and selfless service to the nation with the Knight Great Band in the Humane Order of African Redemption; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts is a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, not just to her biological family, but to the hundreds of Liberians around the world, serving as a role model for many, including the current and past presidents of Liberia; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Roberts will celebrate her 89th birthday on October 29, 2010; now therefore,
