Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, approved imposition of a sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the Prosecuting Attorney, subject to approval by the Legislature, to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which, if private, otherwise meets the test for exemption from federal income taxation under 26 U.S.C. Sec. 501(C), and which engages in community crime prevention activities, for the purpose of preventing drug and drug-related offenses, if such organization has been in existence for a period of not less
than five years; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 9945, passed by the Jackson County Legislature on October 18, 1993, the Prosecuting Attorney has previously entered into a contract with the Ad Hoc Group Against Crime for such services; and,

WHEREAS, subsequent to said Agreement it has been determined that additional services from the Ad Hoc Against Crime are available and desirable to supplement the prevention services already being provided thereunder; now therefore,
