Body
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit West High School has received recognition by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School; and,
WHEREAS, the National Blue Ribbon School program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of achievement; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit West High School is among only 286 schools across the nation that were selected for 2013 honors; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit West High School was among just nine schools selected for this national honor in Missouri and one of two schools in the Kansas City metropolitan area named a Blue Ribbon School for 2013; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit West is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a high school in the Lee's Summit R-7 District; and,
WHEREAS, the school maintains a commitment to academic excellence and a focus on ensuring a culture of respect and acceptance while building relationship and working collaboratively within the community; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit West will receive its honor at a recognition ceremony on November 18 and 19 in Washington, D.C.; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit West High School upon its recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
