Shaw Construction Co., Inc., of Kansas City, MO, in the actual amount of $767,503.00, and authorizing the County Executive to approve additional expenditures under this contract at a cost not to exceed $38,000.00, for a total amount not to exceed $805,503.00.

WHEREAS, in connection with the Jackson County Detention Center expansion, the Purchasing Director has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. PW-2345 (Bid Package No. 3) for the construction of the foundation and underground electrical/plumbing systems; and,
WHEREAS, he has received as the lowest five bids thereon bids from the following:

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has recommended that award be made to George T. Shaw Construction Co., Inc., of Kansas City, MO, for the reason that it has submitted the lowest and best bid; and,
WHEREAS, in the event that change orders to the contract become necessary, due to the time constraints involved in completion of this phase of work, it is appropriate that the County Executive be given authority to approve additional expenditures under this contract not to exceed $38,000.00, which is approximately 5% of the contract amount; therefore,
