Body
WHEREAS, Midwest Airlines has been voted "Best Airline Serving KCI" by Ingram's readers and best airline in the United States by Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, and the Zagat Airline Survey, reinforcing its reputation as "The best care in the air"; and,

WHEREAS, Midwest Airlines continues to expand service at its hub at Kansas City International Airport, where in 2007 it is the No. 2 airline in enplanements and by July 1, 2007, will offer 44 nonstop flights each weekday to 17 destinations; and,

WHEREAS, as of July 1, 2007, Midwest Airlines will offer the only nonstop service from Kansas City to 11 destinations including New York La Guardia, San Francisco, San Antonio, Madison, Milwaukee, Boston, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, and Colorado Springs; and,

WHEREAS, Midwest Airlines offers Kansas City travelers a unique combination of nonstop flights to desired locations, roomy and comfortable seating, impeccable customer service, a frequent pet flyer program, and its famous baked-onboard chocolate chip cookies; and,

WHEREAS, Midwest Airlines has shown a deep and sustained commitment to our community by its involvement and contributions to civic, charitable, and cultural organizations; and,

WHEREAS, Midwest Airlines' Board of Directors has repeatedly rejected a hostile take-over bid by the parent of AirTran Airways; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes that competition among airlines can foster better service and lower fares to passengers and finds that Midwest Airlines as a stand-alone airlines is in the best interests of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
