Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 3455, dated December 15th, 2003, the Legislature did approve the Sheriff's Office Homeland Security Overtime Program Grant ("Homeland Security Grant") funded by the U.S. Department of Justice and provided all required local match funds by Ordinance 3588, dated December 6, 2004; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 15407, dated March 14, 2005, the Legislature did authorize an Agreement for the extension of the period for the use of the Homeland Security Grant funds to August 31, 2005; and,

WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Department of Justice now desire to further extend the ending date for the use of the grant funds to February 28, 2006, as stated in the letter from the U.S. Department of Justice attached hereto as Exhibit A, at no additional cost to the County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension to February 28, 2006, for the Homeland Security Overtime Program Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice be approved and that the County Executive and the Sheriff be and hereby are authorized to execute any necessary documents to accomplish the extension of this grant in a form to be approved by the County Counselor.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
