Body
WHEREAS, Hurricane Helene has caused widespread devastation in North Carolina, Tennessee and other surrounding areas leaving thousands of families displaced in urgent need of basic supplies such as food, hygiene products, and other essential assistance; and,

WHEREAS Jackson County recognizes the importance of solidarity and aid in time of crisis, both locally and nationally, in the face of natural disasters; and,

WHEREAS, Harvesters, has requested additional financial support to rapidly respond to the ongoing emergency by extending its services to the affected families in North Carolina, Tennessee, and other surrounding areas ensuring swift and effective distribution of essential supplies; and,

WHEREAS, Jackson County understands that timely action is critical in mitigating the hardships faced by those impacted by Hurricane Helene and recognizes the importance of supporting organizations like Harvesters in their relief efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Legislature of Jackson County would like to support devasted areas impacted by Hurricane Helene by the following:
1. The Legislature urgently requests the allocation of Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000) from available county emergency relief funds to support Harvesters Community Food Network in providing critical food, hygiene products, and other assistance to the families impacted by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, Tennessee and surrounding states;
