Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has received an application for and is considering the incorporation of a transportation corporation to be known as the "KCT Intermodal Transportation Corporation" and the approval of the construction of a flyover bridge, which will be known as "the Kansas City Terminal Intermodal Enhancement Project;" and,
WHEREAS, the area included in the Project is the portion of Kansas City Terminal Railway and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway tracks from approximately the crossing of Independence Avenue on the west to a point called Congo Junction (approximately 3/4 mile east of I-435) on the east, all of which is located in Jackson County, and portions of which are located in the cities of Kansas City, Sugar Creek, and Independence; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Transportation Act, 238.310.3, RSMo 1994, requires that any such project be approved by any local transportation authority, such as Jackson County, in which all or part of the project may be located; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has reviewed the written application and the preliminary plans and specifications for the Project and recommends that the improvements as shown by such preliminary plans and specifications be undertaken; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature expresses its approval of construction of the Kansas City Terminal Railway Intermodal Enhancement Project, in accordance with the preliminary plans and specifications under consideration by the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission.
