Body
WHEREAS, Tony Sommer, a Truman High School senior, was honored by the Independence School District for twelve years of perfect attendance; and,
WHEREAS, Tony attended Blackburn Elementary School, Pioneer Ridge 6th Grade Center, Bingham 7th Grade Center, Bridger 8th Grade Center, and Truman High School, all within the Independence School District; and,
WHEREAS, Tony has excelled throughout his schooling, ranking in the top 10 percent of his graduating class and receiving Academic Letters all three years at Truman High School; and,
WHEREAS, Tony has been a member of the National Honor Society, the Robotics Team, and participated in wrestling, track, band, and the Mathematics Club; and,
WHEREAS, Tony attended the Missouri Scholars Academy in 2007 and currently attends the Math and Physics Institute; and,
WHEREAS, Tony tied for Top Senior at the 2009 University of Missouri Math Relays, participated in the American Mathematics Competition, and qualified for the American Invitational Math Examination; and,
WHEREAS, Tony was awarded the Missouri Bright Flight scholarship, and he plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis, where he was named a Thomas H. Eliot Scholar, and intends to major in Physics; and,
WHEREAS, Tony's parents, John and Jackie, and his sister, Courtney, join in Tony's celebration of twelve years of perfect attendance and all Tony's academic achievements; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Tony Sommer on twelve years of perfect attendance at the Independence School District and wishes him well in all his future endeavors.
