Body
WHEREAS, Mallory Huser, an eighth grader from Lee's Summit, Missouri, won first place in tumbling at the 2012 Trampoline & Tumbling National Championship in Long Beach, California; and,
WHEREAS, while Mallory has participated in gymnastics since she was two, she has only been training in competitive tumbling for one year; and,
WHEREAS, gymnastics and tumbling differ in that gymnasts train on the balance beam, uneven bars, and floor routines, while tumblers run down a 25 meter spring track and perform different skills such as flips, backhand springs, layouts, pikes, tucks, double layouts, and whips, with only the hands and feet touching the track; and,
WHEREAS, Mallory competed at the 14-year old age group, level 8 category and had to qualify at the state and regional levels before going to the national competition; and,
WHEREAS, Mallory's original plan was to pursue competitive cheerleading, and now that she has won the national championship, she intends to return to her original focus of cheerleading; and,
WHEREAS, Mallory's proud parents, Jim and Jennifer Huser, and her sisters, Morgan and Madison, join in her celebration of this award; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Mallory Huser upon winning the 2012 Trampoline and Tumbling National Championships, and extends best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
