Body
WHEREAS, the voters of the County approved imposition of a sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the County did, by Resolution 12663, dated April 19, 1999, enter into an Agreement with the Salvation Army, to provide housing for Drug Court referrals who are homeless, for the Prosecuting Attorney's Deferred Prosecution and Drug Court Programs; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 13656, dated April 9, 2001, the Legislature did authorize a one-year extension of this Agreement, at an increased rate, at a total cost not to exceed $5,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 14119, dated April 8, 2002, the Legislature did authorize an additional one-year extension of this Agreement, at an increased rate, at a total cost not to exceed $35,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney now recommends an additional extension to the Agreement with the Salvation Army, through and including March 31, 2004, at an increased cost to the County not to exceed $26,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the proposed increase and extension to this Agreement are necessary to provide housing for eight individual Drug Court referrals per month, at a cost of $15.00 per day/$20.00 per day for holidays, and this increase will not exceed $26,000.00;
