Body
WHEREAS, throughout our history, grandparents have played an important role in the lives of our families, providing support and guidance to generations; and,
WHEREAS, grandparents hold a special place in our homes and communities, helping to shape our heritage and our future; and,
WHEREAS, over 77,000 grandparents in Missouri are caring for their grandchildren and other young relatives; and,
WHEREAS, these caregivers make a generous contribution to their family and the community by bringing stability and comfort to the lives of children; and,
WHEREAS, the collaboration among social services agencies, churches, schools, businesses, government agencies, and the legal community provides for a greater degree of success in creating successful family situations; and,
WHEREAS, the legacy of these selfless caregivers is reflected in the principles and sense of purpose they inspire in their loved ones and their unique ability to reach across ages and enrich the lives of generations of Americans; and,
WHEREAS, September is National Grandparents Month and as such presents the opportunity to show our profound appreciation and respect for the role our elders play in our lives; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and supports the role of grandparents in our families and extends a special appreciation to those grandparents who are caregivers of children.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
