Body
WHEREAS, Dr. John Faulkenberry was recently named the 2008 Missouri High School Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals; and,

WHEREAS, John was awarded this recognition based on his dedicated service as principal of Lee's Summit High School, his impact in the areas of collaborative leadership, curriculum, instruction and assessment, and personalizing the learning environment at Lee's Summit High School; and,

WHEREAS, John was selected from more than 600 high school principals from throughout Missouri, and will represent Missouri in the MetLife/National Association of Secondary School Principals High School Principal of the Year program; and,

WHEREAS, John has been an educator for nineteen years, which includes ten years of teaching social studies in local high schools, four years of working as an assistant principal at Lee's Summit North High School, and five years in his current position as principal of Lee's Summit High School; and,
WHEREAS, John has been credited with increasing state and national assessment test scores and providing academic intervention to students in need, and he is known as a person who respects students and develops them to their full potential while enhancing their sense of belonging; and,

WHEREAS, John is a board member of the Lee's Summit Breakfast Optimists, having received the Optimist of the Year Award twice, is a board member and past president of the Kansas City Blazers Swim Club, and is Den Leader and past Cub Master of Cub Scout Pack 4098; and,

WHEREAS, John has previously been awarded the R-7 School District's Expect the Best Award and the Lee's Summit North High School Silver Shoe...
