Body

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District was one of just six metropolitan-area school districts to earn the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's "Distinction in Performance" Award this year; and,

WHEREAS, this award is based on a school district's annual performance reports, which are tabulated each year by the department using the same criteria as the accreditation standards for school districts; and,

WHEREAS, these criteria include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test scores, ACT college entrance test scores, student attendance, dropout rates, and other academic performance measures; and,

WHEREAS, to qualify for this year's "Distinction in Performance"Award, a school district had to meet 11 of 12 performance indicators including all the standards that are based on the MAP exams; and,

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District exceeded the criteria for the award, achieving a perfect score on the performance indicators; and,

WHEREAS, this is the third year that Missouri has awarded the Distinction in Performance Awards; and,

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District and other award-winning school districts will be recognized later this year in a series of meetings across the state; and,

WHEREAS, other metropolitan area school districts earning the honor were Belton, Blue Springs, Liberty, Park Hill, and Raymore-Peculiar; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit R-7 School District upon its receipt of the Missouri Department of Elementary a...
