Body
WHEREAS, the United States Marine Corps, a branch of the United States Armed Forces, was established on November 10, 1775, and is celebrating its 248th birthday on November 10, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, the Marine Corps has a long and storied history of defending our nation and its interests, both at home and abroad, and has consistently demonstrated valor, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom and democracy; and,

WHEREAS, the Marines have been an integral part of the defense of our great nation, responding to the call of duty in times of war and peace, and contributing significantly to the security and prosperity of the United States; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature wishes to express its profound appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps, protecting our freedoms and preserving our way of life; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the United States Marine Corps on the occasion of its 248th birthday; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we recognize and commend the brave men and women who have served in the Marine Corps for their unwavering commitment to our nation, their sacrifice, and their dedication to the values and ideals upon which our country was founded; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to the local Marine Corps units and be made available for public record, and that this resolution be displayed prominently in our county offices as a token of our enduring respect for the United States Marine Corps; and,
