RESOLUTION # 13842, October 8, 2001

Body
WHEREAS, the Jaguar Pride Marching Band of Blue Springs South High School has carved out a reputation of being one of the finest all-round band programs in the nation since the school opened in August 1992; and,

WHEREAS, for nine years the Jaguar Pride Marching Band has received only superior ratings in more than 50 competitions and contests; and,

WHEREAS, Jon Robichaud, Director of Bands and Fine Arts Coordinator for Blue Springs South High School, has said, "The highlight of the band's rich history was its selection and performance in the 'Granddaddy of them All' - the 1996 Pasadena Tournament of Roses and Bandfest;" and,

WHEREAS, the band has now topped that, having been notified it will be invited to perform in the coveted Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade and Bandfest for 2002; and,

WHEREAS, only eight Missouri high school bands have received this prestigious invitation over the last 113 years; and,


WHEREAS, the band's superior performances include:
Central Missouri State Parade: 1st Place 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998.
Blue Springs Field Show Competition: annually from 1992 - 2000.
Missouri Western Tournament of Champions: annually from 1997-2000
(Champion in 2000 and top five finishes each year out of 52 bands).


The Greater St. Louis Marching Festival: annually 1992-94 and 1996-2000,
including three times top five finishes out of 52 bands.
The Francis Howell Invitational:1993.
The Florida Citrus Bowl National Field Show Competition: first runner-up in 1993.

College of Ozarks Band Festival: first place in 1993.
State Music Festival: annually from 1993-2000.
