Body
WHEREAS, Jackson County and the small cities within the county desire to participate in a program of services specifically earmarked for the smaller cities within the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) region; and,
WHEREAS, the Mid America Regional Council is a voluntary association of city and county governments in the metropolitan Kansas City area, which often plays a role in helping improve the lives of more than 1.7 million people in our region; and,
WHEREAS, MARC provides a critical public forum for local governments to come together to solve regional problems and to aggressively seek mutual opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, MARC has prepared a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for submittal to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration for designation of an Economic Development District and financial support for the Small Cities Program; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature has determined that MARC's Small Cities Program would be a useful complement to the services provided by MARC and the Legislature pledges its support for the designation of an Economic Development District.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
