AN ORDINANCE appropriating $4,500.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Grant Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cost Reimbursement Agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General regarding Operation Talon.

Body
WHEREAS, Operation Talon is a special Presidential law enforcement initiative led by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) carried out in conjunction with state and local law enforcement agencies and social services across the country; and,
WHEREAS, this initiative matches law enforcement agencies felony fugitive files with social services agencies' food tamp recipient records in order to locate and apprehend fleeing felons who are receiving food stamps in violation of the Food Stamp Act of 1977, as amended by the Personal Responsibility and Work Reconciliation Act of 1996; and,
WHEREAS, the County and OIG desire to conduct and participate in joint law enforcement operations as set forth in the attached Costs Reimbursement Agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and,
WHEREAS, in order to make funding for this Agreement available to the sheriff's Department, an appropriation is necessary; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
