Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Metropolitan Enforcement Initiative Task Force (KCMEITF) was initiated in 1998, whereby certain agencies joined together to impact methamphetamine manufacture and trafficking in the Kansas City metropolitan area by focusing enhanced law enforcement resources against individuals involved in the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine and to accomplish the arrest, conviction, and long-term incarceration of these individuals through careful application of the most effective federal/state criminal statutes; and,

WHEREAS, the KCMEITF will enhance the effectiveness of federal/state law enforcement resources through a well coordinated initiative seeking the most effective investigative/prosecutive avenues by which to convict and incarcerate dangerous offenders and/or targets of opportunity involved in the manufacture and/or distribution of methamphetamine; and,

WHEREAS, the County desires to enter into a reimbursable agreement with KCMEITF whereby Midwest H.I.D.T.A. will provide 100% of the funds needed to operate this program, in the form of the attached Memorandum of Understanding; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the unappropriated surplus of the 1999 Anti Drug Sales Tax Fund:
