Body
WHEREAS, Carol Jean Mays is one of ten inaugural inductees into the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus (GKCWPC) Hall of Fame; and,

WHEREAS, the GKCWPC Hall of Fame will honor those women who have made a significant, lasting and personal contribution to women's political equality and who have advocated on behalf of equal opportunities and full civil rights for all; and,

WHEREAS, Carol Jean Mays is a former legislator who represented parts of Jackson County in the Missouri House for fourteen years; and,

WHEREAS, Rep. Mays gained expertise in communications policy by chairing both the Utilities Regulation Committee and the Joint Interim Committee on Telecommunications and Energy; and,

WHEREAS, Rep. Mays continues to maintain an active involvement in civic affairs as a member of the Northern Blvd. Methodist Church, Alpha Chi Omega, a Charter Board Member of the Northwest Communities Development Corporation, Vice President of the Board serving Fairmont Plaza, and serves on the Jackson County University of Missouri Extension Council; and,

WHEREAS, throughout Rep. Mays career, she fought vigorously for women's equality in the Missouri Legislature; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Carol Jean Mays on her induction into the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus Hall of Fame.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
