AN ORDINANCE appropriating $61,172.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1995 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund, and authorizing the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney to execute an Agreement with the City of Blue Springs, Missouri, relating to the County's providing the City's local match to grants from the Missouri Department of Public Safety to fund the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) and related programs at a cost not to exceed $51,172.00, and to fund the City's Choices Cooperative/Campus Law Enforcement Education Officer program at a cost not to exceed $10,000.00, for a total amount not to exceed $61,172.00.

WHEREAS, the City of Blue Springs, Missouri, has been advised that it has been awarded a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) grant and a Choices Cooperative/Campus Law Enforcement Education Officer grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety and has requested that the County now provide the local match and funds for supplemental expenses in the total amount of $61,172.00; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement provides a suitable mechanism by which funds for the grant matches and supplemental expenses can be turned over to the City of Blue Springs; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the unappropriated surplus of the 1995 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund:
