Enacted and Approved

WHEREAS, Christopher Carr Morgan, a lifelong Jackson Countian, attended "the Little Red School House" in Independence and, later, William Chrisman High School, where he lettered in wrestling, track, cross country, and photography, while at the same time earning Eagle Scout honors at St. Mary's Troop 221; and,

WHEREAS, Chris, who is the son of Susan Blake and grandson of Lee Chiles, is the latest in a long line of Jackson County public servants, including his great great uncle, Richard B. Chiles, who served as County Assessor, Eastern Judge, and Presiding Judge, great great Uncle William G. Chiles, who also served as Eastern Judge, and great grandfather Henry P. Chiles, who served as Deputy County Clerk and County Treasurer; and,

WHEREAS, Chris enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Military Police Corps for over five years, including service in Kuwait during Operation Enduring Freedom and in Iraq during Operations Iraqi Freedom I and III; and,

WHEREAS, on his most recent tour of duty in Iraq, Chris was wounded by a sniper's bullet while working at a traffic control point, as a result of which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal; and,

WHEREAS, Chris' other military awards and decorations include: the Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Army Achievement Medal (2 awards), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army/Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, and the Combat Action Badge; and,
