Body
WHEREAS, early Wednesday morning, January 24, 1996, Timmy Hill, a freshman at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, awoke to the smell of smoke in his home in south Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, Timmy quickly alerted his sister, Mimi, and his parents, Larry and Margie Hill, that the house was on fire; and,
WHEREAS, when Timmy realized his sister was having trouble getting her bedroom window open, he quickly came to her rescue and, after using strong force, was able to open it, help his sister out, crawl out the window himself, and run next door to call for help; and,
WHEREAS, Timmy's parents escaped after experiencing some problems with getting their sliding glass bedroom door open; and,
WHEREAS, although their house, cars, and personal belongings were completely destroyed by fire, the Hills are fortunate to be alive thanks to Timmy, who alerted the other family members of the fire, saving their lives; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Timmy Hill for his quick, heroic actions in leading his family to safety from the house fire.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
