Body
WHEREAS, John Repp, an elementary physical education teacher at Greenwood Elementary in Lee's Summit, will end his 30-year career as a wrestling coach at Lee's Summit High School; and,
WHEREAS, although John is retiring from his coaching position, he will continue teaching at Greenwood Elementary; and,
WHEREAS, during his career John has assisted in coaching 10 conference, 9 district and 1 state championship team, and 23 national, 57 all-state, and 8 state champion wrestlers; and,
WHEREAS, John graduated from Booneville High School where he was known as "the man with the golden arm;" and,
WHEREAS, he later graduated from Central State Missouri University in Warrensburg where he lettered in football for four years, received the Vernon Kennedy Award for Outstanding Athlete, and was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity; and,
WHEREAS, as a teacher, John was named as a finalist in the Excellence in Teaching Award for the R-7 School District in 1996; and,
WHEREAS, John and his wife of 17 years, Kathy, have a daughter, Amanda, who is a sixth grader at Greenwood Elementary; and,
WHEREAS, John's hobbies include teaching a square dancing unit, something he has become quite renowned for; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates John Repp upon his 30 years as a wrestling coach for Lee's Summit High School and wishes him continued success in his teaching career...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
