Body
WHEREAS, on August 20, the City of Lee's Summit and Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, Inc. (DLSMS) were honored with three Downtown Revitalization Awards by Missouri Main Street Connection, a state program for Main Street communities across the state; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Lee's Summit won Best Downtown Public Improvement Project for its downtown streetscape and infrastructure improvements, and DLSMS won Best Creative Fundraising Event for its Piccadilly Gala, and the Greatest Achievement Award for the best downtown revitalization organization in the state; and,
WHEREAS, DLSMS is a successful, non profit, volunteer driven organization with much credit going to Mayor Karen Messerli, the City Council, City Staff, Downtown Stakeholders, civic partners, and the citizens of Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, Jeanine Rann is the Executive Director of DLSMS and states that downtown is the heart of Lee's Summit, a commercially vibrant, family destination and will remain a place of experience, with people walking, music playing, and events happening; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit is one of only four nationally-accredited Main Street programs in the state, while over 120 Missouri communities follow some aspect of the Main Street Four-Point Approach, which are organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the City of Lee's Summit and Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, Inc., as recipients of Missouri Main Street Connection Awards, and commends them for their efforts to revitalize Downtown Lee's Summit.
