Body
WHEREAS Lee's Summit High School Principal, Dr. John Faulkenberry, was honored April 10, 2013, by the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association, as Administrator of the Year; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Faulkenberry's nomination for this award included letters of recommendation of support from Kevin Adams, editor of the Lee's Summit High School student newsmagazine and other student journalists, who noted his open-door policy and unwavering support and trust of the student media, as well as his desire to support new technologies for gathering and disseminating student news; and,

WHEREAS, this award was presented to Dr. Faulkenberry at the annual Journalism Day Conference held at the University of Missouri - Columbia, School of Journalism; and,

WHEREAS, in accepting the award, Dr. Faulkenberry discussed his professional philosophy of student press rights and illustrated how Lee's Summit High School is a model of responsible media reporting; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Faulkenberry joined the Lee's Summit R-VII School District in 1990, first as a teacher followed by promotions to Assistant Principal in 1999 and Principal in 2003; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Faulkenberry earned his doctorate in educational leadership from St. Louis University in 2007, his masters of science in educational administration from the University of Central Missouri in 1996, and his bachelor of science in social studies education from Missouri State University in 1987; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Faulkenberry has previously been named Missouri Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals and the Greater Kansas City, M...
