Body
WHEREAS, Walter Scoggins has achieved the prestigious honor of being named a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) All American Post Commander; and,
WHEREAS, Walter was named among a total of only 115 Post Commanders worldwide to achieve the All American Post Commander status; and,
WHEREAS, to be named an All American one must prove outstanding achievements in membership growth, be actively involved in programs hosted by the VFW that benefit Veterans and the entire community and excel in the selling of "Buddy Poppys"; and,
WHEREAS, Walter is the Post Commander of VFW Jack Ray Post No. 5789 in Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, in 2005, the Post No. 5789 received the national award of being an All American Post in addition to being a three time winner of the VFW National Community Service Award; and,
WHEREAS, Post 5789 participates annually in Memorial Day ceremonies, the Avenue of Flags Program at the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery, the Lee's Summit Veterans Day Parade, holiday meals open to the public, the Public Safety Recognition Awards Banquet and student scholarship competitions; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Walter Scoggins for his outstanding achievement upon being named an All American Post Commander of the VFW.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
