INTRODUCED BY Rhonda L. Shoemaker, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court has requested an extension of its Disproportionate Minority Confinement Program ("Program") contract with the Missouri Department of Public Safety to allow the court additional time to expend the remaining funds authorized therein; and,

WHEREAS, the Program studies the disproportionate minority confinement in its juvenile justice system and seeks to identify steps to reduce the disproportionate rate of confinement while maintaining public safety; and,

WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Public Safety has approved an extension of the Program funds until September 30, 2006; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Family Court's request for a contract extension on its Disproportionate Minority Confinement Program until September 30, 2006, be and hereby is approved at no additional cost to the County.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
