RESOLUTION # 12317, August 17, 1998

INTRODUCED BY Dixie M. Flynn, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, Tom received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas; and,

WHEREAS, upon completion of school Tom served as captain in the Army Corps of Engineers where he received a bronze star and Army commendation award; and,

WHEREAS, Tom worked in various capacities throughout his career including that of a teaching assistant at Kansas State University, land use planner and project director for Lewis & Clark Regional Council, and city planner and director of planning for City of Bartlesville; and,

WHEREAS, Tom was proactive in several projects while with the City of Blue Springs including adoption of its first Unified Development Code and Adams Dairy Parkway Corridor Plan, and the establishment of the GIS System; and,

WHEREAS, in 1991 Tom received the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association Excellence in Planning Award, and in 1998 received the Missouri Planning Award from the APA for his work on Adams Dairy Parkway in Blue Springs; and,

WHEREAS, he leaves his current position as Director of Community Development with the City of Blue Springs after completing over eight years of faithful service and will relocate to Farmington, New Mexico; and,

WHEREAS, Tom will be missed greatly by his friends and co-workers; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature recognizes Tom Kuntz upon his resignation as Director of Community Development of Blue Springs, and thanks him for eight years of dedicated service to the community.
