Body
WHEREAS, a senseless act of violence at Kansas City's Union Station following the Championship Rally celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs' victory in Super Bowl LVIII occurred on Wednesday, February 14, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, in the face of imminent danger, Trey Filter displayed extraordinary courage, selflessness, and quick thinking by fearlessly tackling and apprehending the shooter, thereby preventing further harm to innocent bystanders; and,
WHEREAS, Trey Filter's heroic actions undoubtedly saved lives and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Trey Filter's exceptional bravery and decisive intervention exemplify the indomitable spirit and resilience of humanity in times of crisis; and,
WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon this body to honor and celebrate individuals like Trey Filter, whose valorous deeds exemplify the highest ideals of heroism and civic duty; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby recognizes and commends Trey Filter for his outstanding bravery, selflessness, and heroism in the face of adversity, and extends its deepest gratitude for his service to our community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
