Body
WHEREAS, Amanda Hanneman, daughter of Kurt Hanneman and Betsy Ward Hanneman, and a 2006 graduate of Blue Springs South High School, has earned the designation of a Blue Springs South recipient of The Kansas City Star's 2006 Scholar-Athlete award; and,

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Star recognizes area seniors who have shown outstanding academic and athletic success by selecting one male and one female from each metro area school providing three nominations based upon grade point average, athletic honors, and faculty recommendation; and,

WHEREAS, Amanda has been recognized for her numerous athletic achievements with the following awards and honors: All-State golf, All-District golf, The Examiner's Player of the Year 2003, Kansas City Golf Association Junior Champion 2004, Kansas City Golf Association Harry C. Devine Award 2004, All-State basketball, All-Conference basketball, Penn Valley Community College and Missouri Sports Hall of Fame All-Star team selection, Lady Jaguar award, and a full basketball scholarship to the University of Missouri-Columbia; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to her athletic success, Amanda has been recognized with the MSHSAA Award of Excellence for exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity, Wendy's High School Heisman nominee, U. S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, and a Metro Sports/Greater Kansas City Sports Commission Athlete of the Year nominee; and,

WHEREAS, as a community volunteer, Amanda devotes her time and talents to Doctors with A Heart and as an assistant for school-age summer basketball camps; and,
